IELTS Speaking Part 1: Reading & Books

A 5-minute interview on familiar subjects. The examiner works through short questions about your life, and answers of two or three sentences are usually the right length — long enough to show range, short enough to keep the exchange moving.

  1. Do you enjoy reading?
  2. What kind of books do you like?
  3. Do you prefer reading physical books or e-books?
  4. Did you read a lot as a child?

What is being marked

Every part of the test is scored on the same four criteria, each carrying equal weight in the final band.
