IELTS Speaking questions, Parts 1 to 3

These are the same topics and cue cards the Voxtis exam room draws from. Each page gives the questions, the timing you are working against, and what the examiner is marking — then lets you take it out loud rather than read about it.

Part 1 · 22 topics

A 5-minute interview on familiar subjects. The examiner works through short questions about your life, and answers of two or three sentences are usually the right length — long enough to show range, short enough to keep the exchange moving.

Part 2 · 38 topics

The long turn. You are handed a cue card, given 60 seconds to make notes, and then asked to speak for 1 to 2 minutes without interruption. Most candidates lose marks by stopping early rather than by saying anything wrong.

Part 3 · 9 topics

A 5-minute discussion that widens the Part 2 topic into abstract territory. The examiner is looking for opinions with reasons behind them, and will push back to see whether you can develop or defend a position.
