IELTS Speaking Part 1: Work, studies & daily pace

A 5-minute interview on familiar subjects. The examiner works through short questions about your life, and answers of two or three sentences are usually the right length — long enough to show range, short enough to keep the exchange moving.

The questions

  1. Do you work or are you a student?
  2. What was your dream job when you were younger?
  3. Are you busier now than you were as a child?
  4. What does a typical weekday look like for you?

What is being marked

Every part of the test is scored on the same four criteria, each carrying equal weight in the final band.
